Greetings, Lake Goers!!!
The season is finally upon us—that time of year to open the cabin, stock up the camper, and fuel the boat. After a wild winter with challenging ice conditions and an April blizzard, the sun and fun are on their way!
The LTA Board has been hard at work preparing for our annual meeting in June, as well as coordinating the annual Carp Tournament. Much of this spring has also been spent communicating water level updates with the US Army Corps of Engineers (please check out the COE information posted on our website).
As you enjoy your days at the lake—soaking up the sunshine with your feet in the water—please consider supporting the Lake Traverse Association by becoming a member. We are always looking for new project ideas and activities that promote the health and recreational enjoyment of the lake, so don’t hesitate to share your thoughts.
We also encourage everyone to visit our Facebook page and website, both filled with helpful resources. Plus, we’re now offering advertising opportunities on our social media platforms—perfect for local businesses with products or services tailored to the lake community.
We’re excited to begin featuring recipes, drinks, and fishing tips throughout the season!
Lastly, a special thank you to Traverse County, MN DNR, and Whaley Excavating for the beautiful work on the new boat ramp at the County Park—it looks fantastic!
Here’s to a great lake season ahead!
• The LTA Board has installed monofilament recycling stations at several boat landings. Please discard your used fishing line in these containers—it will be sent to Berkley for re-purposing.
• Due to limited snowpack this winter and minimal spring runoff, lake levels may be lower in some areas. Please be mindful of rocks. The Traverse County Sheriff’s Office has placed buoys around rock pile areas—these are tall, white, and light up after dark.
• As stewards of the lake, please report anything unusual, dangerous, or out of place. Anglers are also encouraged to report any fish kill areas.
